Since 1997, the Catholic Business Network of Prince George's County has helped its members grow their businesses while applying Christian principles in the workplace. In addition to monthly networking breakfasts, two annual fund-raising events, the Awards Celebration and the John Solari Memorial Crab Feast, help CBN-PG support Catholic schools and students throughout Prince George's County, Maryland.

Vincent "Cap" Mona astonished over 200 attendees at CBN-PG's 14th Annual Awards Celebration, Monday, April 30, at the Marriott Greenbelt. During his acceptance speech as Hometown Hero, he pledged $100,000 toward scholarships.
Mona's generosity set the stage for a successful evening honoring volunteers, business partners, and Catholic schools and students. For a program book with all of the details, including sponsors, underwriters, volunteer and business partner bios, and winning scholarship essays, click here. As the primary fund-raiser for CBN-PG's year-round giving, the Awards Celebration was the most successful to date and raises the bar for future events.
Businesses and schools as marketing partners
Wendi Williams, (pictured,) Director of School Marketing and Advancement for the Archdiocese, told all at the April 20 Breakfast that businesses and schools must join forces to effectively market Catholic education.
Williams is former President of the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce. She applies business marketing practices to advise schools about meeting new challenges and remaining viable.
Mary Hawkins, principal of Holy Family School, reported that her last CBN-PG grant helped initiate a $30,000 fund for a new gym floor. Upon receiving this month's grant, she pledged that it would be used toward renovations to the school's music room. Mary is pictured with CBN-PG President Heather Gossart.
Gossart encouraged all to attend and enjoy the 14th Annual Awards Celebration on Monday, April 30. Also she announced the new slate of officers for 2012-13: John Kincaid, Jr., President; Heather Gossart, Vice-President; Lisa Case, Secretary; John Kincaid, Jr., Treasurer (until a new candidate emerges and is vetted.)
This month's breakfast sponsor, Laura Hall, (pictured,) of Camp St. Charles, gave a thorough presentation of all the camp has to offer for the upcoming season.
The co-ed traditional sleep-away summer camp in Charles County provides one- and two-week sessions. Hall offered to deliver her presentation at schools and encouraged all to visit their website for more information.
